Feeding your kids the right foods, convincing them to eat their fruit and veggies, making all kinds of “plate drawings” and colourful animals just so they eat it…Yep, we’ve all been there. But teaching them to have a nutritious diet by helping them understand what they are actually eating and how food is being cooked is already something different. Here comes Meal Monsters, an app created by food stylist Mary-Kei Macfarlane and the expert of ‘living living’ Elisa Galbraith.
This interactive recipe app wants to encourage children to make healthy food choices from an early age, by learning about ingredients, kitchenware, nutrition and cooking. All that stuff that often gets left behind in the attempt to “just make them eat”. The app combines recipes, games and storytelling, and it can also be played as a game or even read as a story by the kids themselves. Or by you, if they can’t read yet.
Meal Monsters invites children (and parents) to go on an exciting, educational food adventure, accompanied by three adorable monsters: Sal, Gor and Pom. These three become chefs, guiding everyone through ingredients, doses, cooking times and all sorts of nutritional information.
The even more interesting part is that children and parents can cook the dishes in real life and are then able to photograph their culinary masterpieces with a super fun template on the app.
Meal Monsters is available for free trial on iTunes!
