Supermodels and celebrities like Candice Swanepoel, Coco Rocha or Liv Tyler have teamed up with GAP and Every Mother Counts to celebrate and support mothers worlwide. The Gap advert titled ‘Mama Said’ is a joyful celebration of the beauty of motherhood in support of non-for-profit organization Every Mother Counts which campaigns to make pregnancy and childbirth safer in countries like Haiti, Uganda, Nepal, India and Syria.
The short film combines showing off the logo’s classic styles, including the ubiquitous Gap hoodie that Swanepoel wears, with the initiative of a text-to-donate video featuring real moms and their adorable kiddos.
One adorable appearance was the South African Victoria’s Secret supermodel Candice Swanepoel who was shown playing with her 7-month old son Anaca and who said she wants to encourage women to talk about the challenges of motherhood. ‘Motherhood is so different for each woman – it’s your unique journey, and I love that I’m able to share my experience as a mother in this project,’ Candice added.
Meanwhile, actress Liv Tyler, who also co-directed this cute movie, was spotted kissing her 9-month old daughter Lula, admitting ‘I wanted to be a mother pretty much my whole life’. About the campaign, she added: ‘I’ve never worked with my youngest kids before but it was so sweet putting them on set and just recording’.
Liv and Candice were also joined by Candian model Coco Rocha who is playing with her 2-year old daughter Ioni in the clip. Reflecting on the campaign, the 28-year old model said: ‘I’ve never felt so strong and powerful as I did bringing my daughter into this world. Being a mother is by far the most rewarding and beautiful experience I’ve ever had,’ she noted.
The women were joined by Amercian actress Jurnee Smollett-Bell, as well as photographer Ali Bird with her wife Cass and their children. Co-director Liv said about teaming up with Gap and Every Mother Counts: ‘Growing up in America, Gap is such a big part of your life and I thought it was such a special thing to do a project that involves the mothers, the children and Every Mother Counts.’
And honestly, the level of cuteness in this video is almost too much to handle!
