“Nobody should feel like that’s normal.”
We all love and adore her, and not only for her funny and cheerful personality or for her love of bacon, but also for always speaking up the truth with capital T, no matter the issue. Chrissy Teigen was on The Today Show and spoke about celebrities (her included) and post partum weight loss.
“Anyone in the public eye, we have all the help we could ever need to be able to shed anything. So I think people get this jaded sensation that everybody’s losing it so quickly, but we just happen to be out there. We have nutritionists, we have dietitians, we have trainers, we have our own schedules, we have nannies. We have people who make it possible for us to get back into shape. But nobody should feel like that’s normal, or like that’s realistic.”
And then she gets even more Truthful:
“I think a lot of the mood stuff that happens afterwards isn’t really talked about. Whether it’s postpartum depression, or, for me, some days I wouldn’t know how to cope with work and juggle things. I think the mere act of losing those endorphins – I think I was slightly cursed by having such a great pregnancy and being so happy and having so much energy, that the decline of all those endorphins, and all the prenatals and everything I was on naturally made my mood change. There were periods where you get super dark.”
I mean, how can you NOT think that these celebrities are NOT superhumans, when you see them looking like this only weeks after giving birth. But like Chrissy admitted, we only see them snapped by the paparazzi, and not what goes on behind the camera and the perfect Instagram shots. There is always a nanny back there taking care of the children and taking over when the moms need to go somewhere or simply want to rest or work out, there is always somebody there preparing their (super healthy, nutritious) meals 3 times a day, and somebody dressing them up and hiding what needs to be hidden.
No, these celebrities don’t have superpowers, but they have super-help.
I’d lie if I said I wouldn’t wish some of that, too. Or more of that. Chrissy, I love you and your adorable family!
