Supermommy and former Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr got married to Snapchat founder Evan Spiegel last month, but we only now got all the details and the pictures of the big day. And let us tell you- the dress is a-maze-ing! The two exhanged vows within an intimate affair with only 45 guests, and they made sure the privacy was kept until they agreed to make everything public.
Miranda wore a custom-made DIOR gown, designed by creative director of Dior Maria Grazia Chuiri, and it was inspired by the iconic dress worn by Grace Kelly at her 1956 wedding to Prince Reinier de Monaco. Photographer Patrick Demarchelier captured the best moments of the event and shared exclusively for Vogue.
“I think it’s every girl’s dream to have Dior design her wedding dress,” Kerr told Vogue. “I thought, if she’s up for it, I’m up for it,” referring to the then newly appointed artistic director of the famous French fashion house. And even though we are used to seeing and admiring Kerr barely naked or sporting the sexiest lingerie on the catwalk, this time -given the status in her personal life- she opted for something classic and more put-together. “I’ve had a lot of fun with fashion, and I used to be more wild, free, bohemian. But in this period of my life, my style is more pulled back. My greatest sources of inspiration have always been Grace, Audrey Hepburn, and my grandmother, who at 80 has an effortless chic: a nice pant, a white blouse, a scarf, a little heel.”
“A dress that fully covers you creates a sense of purity and mystery,” she added, referencing the high neckline and full-length sleeves of her Dior bridal gown. “She wanted something like a fairy tale,” explained Chiuri, “and she gave me this idea, to make a dress that was emotional and simple at the same time.”
Although there was no bridal party, Miranda Kerr’s six-year-old son Flynn played the role of the ring bearer, joining the newly weds for their first dance afterwards.
The couple has always cared a lot about their privacy and so their wedding was no exception: there was a ban on social media and they even had a white canopy suspended over the garden to protect them from uninvited helicopters with papparazzi and cameras.
Congratulations to the happy couple and to the beautiful mommy!
