She may have become on of the most powerful and “in-the-spotlight” women in the world, but Melania says being a mom comes first.
Melania Trump (46) has become the official First Lady of The United States at the inauguration of her husband, president Donald Trump. This means, 4 years ahead of them of being America’s voice and in the spotlight all over the world. The cople’s son however, 10-year old Barron Trump, and his mother will not be moving to the White House just yet, because their son’s schooling takes priority. They will keep living in Tower Trump so that Barron can stay in his West Side private school (Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School in New York City.)
Though being the First Lady now, Melania has lived a normal life while pursuing her modelling career in New York. She gave birth to her son Barron in 2010, and have since been photographed together a lot.
Barron has lived a privileged life and despite his parents’ crazy lifestyle, the three of them spend a lot of time together. The Trumps believe in “hands on” parenting. Even though they have staff to cook and clean, Barron’s never had a nanny to take care of him. “We keep it down to a minimum,” Donald said. “If you have too much help, you don’t get to know your children.” Melania echoes the sentiment in their 2015 interview.
When it comes to raising Barron, Melania says, “I like to be hands-on. I think it’s very important.” She helps him with homework and takes him to after-school activities herself. “Barron is 9 years old. He needs somebody as a parent there, so I am with him all the time. As you know my husband is traveling all the time,” she tells People Magazine.
“Barron loves to be one-on-one with Dad because normally he’s almost always all the time with me,” she says. “So I give them space when it’s Daddy and Barron time. They go alone for dinner, one-on-one. They play golf together. He looks forward to that.”
And Barron’s admiration for his father is undeniable. “He likes the way he talks, the way he is,” says Melania. “They have beautiful respect and admiration for each other.”
Well, that much about son Barron. But in this big whirlwind, there are lots of things we didn’t know about her, actually. Melania grew up in the communist Yugoslavia and speaks five languages: Slovene, English, French, Serbian and German. She also is the first lady to have posed nude. Oups? Three years before she met Donald Trump, Melania posed nude alongside for a French men’s monthly magazine. Nevertheless, she is the least popular First Lady since Hillary Clinton, according to to a Washington Post/ABC News poll. She wishes people would be nicer to each other and eliminate hate:
In a rare campaign speech just five days before the election, Melania outlined her vision for what her role would be in the White House if she were to become first lady, saying she would work to combat a culture on social media that has become “too mean and too tough” and which is filled with insults based on “looks and intelligence”.
Melania is raising her son as “Little Donald”.
Ten-year-old Barron apparently loves wearing a suit and tie and playing golf with his dad. He is also said to share his father’s love of bossing people around. “He fired nannies, fired housekeepers,” Melania said in a 2011 interview, adding that he quickly hired them back.
Donald has described his wife as an “incredible” mother. “She loves her son, Barron, so much and I have to say, she will make an unbelievable first lady,” he said prior to his election.
“He is a very strong-minded, very special, smart boy. He is independent and opinionated and knows exactly what he wants. Sometimes I call him ‘Little Donald’. He is a mixture of us in looks, but his personality is why I call him Little Donald,” Melania told Parenting.com.
Well, one thing is for sure: this mama and First Lady has got style and motherhood skills. We’re just waiting to see what she has in store for the country and the world for the upcoming four years. Good luck, Melana!
